This week was great!
We had an interesting
experience. We had pulled over to the side of the road to figure out
where to go to tract. After a few minutes, a black Infiniti pulled up
behind us and parked. We had decided on a place to go, so we started
driving away, and noticed the Infiniti pull out with us. We turned left,
and he turned left. We turned right and he turned right. Elder Gregory
said, "Is he following us?" He started just turning different ways and
went in a big loop. The Infiniti stayed behind our car the whole time,
leaving no doubt that he was following us. We were getting pretty
worried, so we flipped a u-turn at an intersection to shake him. As we
passed him, I was hoping it would be someone we recognized, but the man
was just staring directly at us with no expression. We turned quickly
into a neighborhood and parked on a random street until we were pretty
sure he was gone. We still have no idea who it was, but it was
definitely weird. It's okay, we're protected.
We
FINALLY had an investigator lesson! WOOHOO! Pearly is from Trinidad and
Tobago and she is absolutely golden! She is totally amazing, but the
only problem that she has is her husband. Although Doug doesn't hate us,
he still hates church, and she's concerned about making him angry as
she spends more and more time with church things. He's not interested at
all, but Elder Gregory and his last companion got on his good side, so
he doesn't have too big of a problem with Pearly taking the
discussions. Their marriage has been on the rocks for a long time as
well, and she doesn't want to do anything to compromise it more. She was
talking to us about it last night, and I felt impressed to promise her
specifically that if she prayed about the situation, Heavenly Father
would provide a way to work with it. She said she would absolutely pray
about it. It was such a great lesson, and the Spirit was super strong! I
feel a lot more confident now as a missionary because I know the basic
doctrines, so that means we're able to just have a conversation while
teaching the core principles.
Things are going
super great here in Queensland and Parkland! We're working hard, and
hopefully I'll have more stories like Pearly for next week!
Love you all!
Elder DeWitt
